On January 12th ,2022, social media went ballistic over online reports claiming cannabis compounds prevents covid infection. What caused the online frenzy is the fact that cannabis is highly illegal in Ghana. Since then, many Ghanaians have taken to social media to mock and share their opinions on the matter. So, we here at Probing Fact Checkers had to probe further.

Ghanatwitter on Instagram shared a screenshot of an alleged news article by myjoyonline.com, claiming that cannabis compounds prevented covid infection in laboratory study. Research proves that the article was indeed published by myjoyonline.com on the 12th of January, 2022, at 7:00 am.

Further research indicates myjoyonline.com sourced the article from Bloomberg.com

     Curious minds came across a trending video on Twitter about a clash between a said Niihau and Maamobi boys over “shisha”. 

  How true is this?

   

      In a Police press conference led by the Assistant commissioner of Police and director general of Public affairs Kwesi Ofori at the National headquarters on Wednesday, 19th January 2022. He said that the clash was between two rivalry gangs led by one Kumodji alias Ibrahim Hussein and Bonbon alias Ali Ahudjo. They are said to have long term pending issues, and eventually took their issues to the streets of Niima on the 18th of January 2022, to settle their scores. 

     He then went further to confirm seven(7) arrest of which five(5) are in custody and two(2) on admission under Police guard and are still arrested with one victim,who sustained a gunshot and is responding to treatment at the 37 military hospital and is identified as Apia’s. 

     In conclusion with the confirmation by the Ghana Police which is a very reliable source we hereby rate this story to be TRUE. But as to whether it was over shisha needs more evidence.

CLAIM: H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is seen chilling with a lady alleged to be his girlfriend.

VERDICT:  The story is 80% false and 20% true . 

                  

RESEARCH BY: NAFTI FACT FINDERS(NFF) 

               

A viral video showing Ghana’s president H.E Nanka Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and a beautiful white lady sitting together in a plush restaurant has received massive reactions online.

                

The 10seconds video captured President Akuffo Addo ,in a black suit flipping through the menu book of the restaurant whilst the white lady stylishly played with her hair.

                

There has not been any official response on the content of the video ever since it hit the internet.

                 

This has led to many wild speculations with some indicating that the said white lady is the side chick of the president and also alleged reactions from Serwaa Broni on her Instagram page captioned “My boyfriend is cheating” with a sad emoji sparks mix reactions.

                  

 NAFTI fact finders took it upon themselves to investigate if indeed the said allegations were accurate.

                   

 So, how true is it? 

First of all, the topic of the news story is misleading. It says; "H.E Nana Addo Dankwa seen chilling with one of his beautiful girlfriends". They obviously brought in such a topic to get more people to click on their story. The said woman who was seen with the president is not one of his girlfriends but the Norwegian ambassador to Ghana who's in the person of Ingrid Mollestad.  We got this revelation when we were searching through the comment section under the video. We therefore searched for the Norwegian ambassador to Ghana on Google search and got her images. We also used twitter to search for account. We concluded that it was her when we inserted the video in the INVID verification plugin. It attested to the fact that the white woman is Ingrid Mollestad. This proves that the topic is misleading. Secondly the whole news story was being exaggerated. Yes, they were at kozo restaurant and that can be proved with a picture from Google which showed the exact place where His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa and the Norwegian ambassador sat at Kozo restaurant.

Again, it was clear that they were having a meeting because the 10 seconds video showed the president and the Norwegian ambassador flipping through a menu book and nothing extra. Below is the said video:

RATING: Part of the story stated that " H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was seen with a beautiful white lady " which is actually true , but holds only 20% truth in the story.

The main story behind the viral video says His Excellency was seen chilling with his girlfriend; which is 80% false . The video only captures the president and white lady flipping through a menu book at the Kozo restaurant . Through research , Nafti fact finders found out the white lady in question is the Norwegian ambassador to Ghana who is in the person of Ingrid Mollestad and not the president's girlfriend .

VERDICT

The claim that H.E Nana Addo Dankwa was seeing with one of his beautiful girlfriend chilling is 80 percent false and 20 percent true.
