WHAT DO PEOPLE THINK OF TATTOOS?
There are so many misconceptions about tattoos and how people view others with tattoos.
I have made research’s and conducted some interviews which clarifies that individuals with tattoos feel more attractive, stronger and more confident in having overcome the fear of pain for some tattoos seem to go deeper than just underneath the skin. This creates a deep personal change both physically and mentally.
People tell their stories through tattoos or make those arts on their body to symbolize something special. But the question here is how can we explain the prejudice against those with tattoos? According to a system justification perspective, stereotypes serve to justify the denigration of certain groups of people. In the case of tattooed people, they are often stereotyped to be criminals, toxic people or drug addicts.
Discriminatory comments of disapproval like tattoos makes you look unprofessional and you are going to regret that when you are older have circulated around for decades. Nonetheless, people continue to get inked despite all the “tattoo critics” may say. Even tho tattoos are mainstream and broadly accepted, you will still encounter people who judge and think less of you for the ink on your body.

Having tattoos can lead to rejections resulting from preconceived notions that people often hold. These negative perceptions leave people with tattoos being viewed as socially undesirable. Imagine being the perfect fit for a job and highly skilled in your field of choice, should the ink on your body determine if you get hired for the job you perfectly qualify for? This is video of lady who shared her experience on how she was deprived of her work just because of her tattoos.

For many people, your own family can be the most judgmental about your tattoo. Believe it or not, depending on your family’s views on body modification, your family can have a massive influence on your decision to get a tattoo.
For now, the best anyone can do is be open minded and respectful of other people’s decisions regarding their bodies.
